Who Are We?

ABOUT US

The Principality of NorAuthwik, located within (surrounded by) Catawba County, North Carolina, operates its public face under the legal presence of the Crown of NorAuthwik LLC.

According to our tradition, we are a formally mission focused, principle-led, MicroNation, artfully proclaiming its mission and vision as a Principles based, MicroNational Principality.

Our use of Principality is a reflection of the word Principles in this regard, as we are founded upon Core Principles.

With our support of art, freedom of speech, volunteerism and ultimately making a positive impact on the greater world, we craft our unique version of what is commonly classified as a MicroNation; Poetically, and physically, working as a mission-focused Principality.

As an operation, NorAuthwik balances symbolic autonomy, referenced for our MicroNation as sovereignty, with full compliance to U.S. Federal and local laws, creating a harmonious blend of autonomy, collaboration, and community engagement - granting our symbolic usage of the term "protectorate principality."

Our mission is to work towards a cultivated (piece-by-piece, created by each citizen) culture that supports and upholds each person's individual rights, we support craftsmanship & various manners of the arts from comedy, story telling, dance, water colors, painting etc.

We strive for unity through collaboration while celebrating our cultural identity and unique Americana-NorWakian tradition as a MicroNational entity.

FAQ - Why A Principality?

A frequently asked question, or rather follow up question, after being introduced to our nation is "a Principality?" This video explains why NorAuthwik is a Principality -- and goes into depth about our founding principles, the core of our culture.

HISTORY & HERITAGE

Although slightly eccentric in nature, we take on the depiction and distinction of a MicroNation to emphasize our unique response to the world's needs.

The four founders of NorAuthwik, wanting to see a more creative, united, and thought provoking world, founded our nation on May 26th, 2012. They did this with the idea in mind that often-times, having been born wherever we have been born, we are the product of a culture or of a society that, for whatever given reason, we wish to no longer be a part of - or worse, has chosen to not accept us, and has no part in us, as it were.

Originally being an art project, the Principality grew in its political bearing and began engaging in MicroNational diplomacy and community outreach.

We believe that working as a micro-nation enables us to express our mission, values, and purpose to the world in a unique way that might allow us to be understood or heard a bit better than we otherwise would have, and thus we embrace our symbolic, artful status.

We have taken on the title "principality" due to our governing "Principles."

In time, the founders agreed that, for the principality to coexist in space peacefully and sustainably, that it is essential to  evaluate and align with the existing initiatives and priorities of the greater Hickory and Catawba County area.

Hickory, which is synonymous with NorAuthwik in land and place, is a community known for its history of craftsmanship, education, and community resilience - the laws of the City of Hickory, and the Constitution of the United States are written within our own MicroNational Code of Law. We constantly update our initiatives to respond to the need of the greater area, and the land within our provision.

We share in the traditional values of our protector nation, the United States of America, in cooperation, self-determination, and order and encourage these values in all of our dealings.

NorAuthwik celebrate having what we have coined as a 'cultivated culture.'

This means that each individual, so long as the principles of our principality are agree to, through their own self-determined set of beliefs, artistic endeavors, or thought provoking ideas creates and adds to the society and culture of NorAuthwik. Meaning that if you are contributing (through the arts, public works, ideas, Parliament, or participation in community events) to the culture of NorAuthwik, you are accepted into our community.

In 2024, the Government of NorAuthwik launched its non-profit mission, the Crown Community Care Initiative, in order to promote the values and principles which we live by: Liberation through self expression and the arts, unity and collaboration through community engagement and volunteerism, and seek however we can to constantly cultivate an inclusive cultural identity for all.

NORWAKIAN CULTURE

Creativity flourishes in our Principality, as NorWakians are encouraged to express themselves freely through various forms of self expression. Whether that is through music, modern-art, literature, comedy, or dance, creativity thrives as a cornerstone of our cultural landscape.

Above all, NorAuthwik is a nation that values individual rights, empowering each citizen to share their voice and contribute to the fabric of our society.

We celebrate diversity and inclusivity, recognizing that our differences enrich our collective experience and strengthen our sense of unity. Collaboration and community are at the heart of all that we do, and we seek to provide a shelter to those that are looking for an identity, for a community that values their unique individualism.

NATIONAL ANIMAL

Many of our national coat of arms proudly feature the majestic image of a winged lion, serving as the symbolic animal for our state.

The national animal of NorAuthwik is the Winged Lion.

While NorAuthwik may not possess such a creature in reality, we deeply admire the symbolism it represents. Similar to the Griffyn, the Winged Lion is revered as the protector and guardian of Virtue. In NorAuthwik, we hold our principles and virtues in high esteem, taking on our guardianship over the principles of our community, and honor the spirit they symbolize. You will often-times see this reflected in national coat of arms within various ministries and councils of NorAuthwik.
